Amid fears of COVID-19, Manchester United were forced to play behind closed doors for the first time in their history. The absence of fans did not prevent Olè's boys from spraying goals like money in a Naija party.
Here are five lessons learnt from the five-goal lashing:
1. ODION IGHA-GOAL
The Naija born Odion Ighalo has been on fire for United. He has scored in every game he has started in with 4 goals in 3 starts.
His goal today was super. After some fantastic controls taking the ball to his left, right and left again, Igha-goal released a 'Shaka-boom' and all the goalkeeper saw was a ball dancing 'one-corner' inside the net.
2. GOOD TIMES
These are good times indeed for United with 11 games unbeaten, 9 clean sheets and 29 goals in all competitions. Olè has now equalled his own record again for longest unbeaten run for Manchester United.
The team spirit is high, the attitude and mentality is changing and we are dominating games we should dominate. In Naija we say, "the foundation for the permanent site is being laid".
3. HARMATTAN OVER
After a very long dry season(Harmattan) of goals, our electric-paced winger, 'Osondu' James, finally hit the back of the net. Odion Ighalo came to his rescue with the assist which he took very well.
The harmattan was also over for Andreas Perreira who played a McTominay-esque shot as he noticed a distracted LASK goalkeeper.
4. JUST LIKE 'ABOKI KNIFE'
Akinbode Fred's assist for Juan 'Bankole' Mata's goal was a delight to behold. The pass sliced through the midfield and defence of LASK like a an 'aboki' knife cutting through hot suya.
Fred has indeed become a red!!
5. GREENWOOD LOVES THE WOODWORK
United's highest scoring teenager just loves the woodwork. His goals always have a way of hitting the woodwork before dancing 'shakiti-bobo' inside the net.
He did it again today with his first touch of the game after coming in the 85th minute. He is now the first teenager in United's history to score five goals in a single European competition!!
IN THE END, United have successfully secured a quarter-final spot in the Europa league. For the return leg, we can afford to play Jesse 'Awilo' Lingard as our No9 and make Phil Jones the captain.
Kudos to Bruno 'Oliseh' Fernandes for another assist.
