United 2-1 West Ham: 5 Things We Learnt As United Stayed Above Water.

Olè and his boys produced three points at Old Trafford today using a 'grinding stone' approach. Two spot kicks from Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba (without slow motion) were needed to grind out the points at home.

Here are five things ManUtdNaijaFM learnt from the lacklustre victory:

1. ANONYMOUS MATA
Juan 'Bankole' Mata was given the Trequartista midfield  role today and largely flopped. The former magician was almost declared missing until he won the penalty.

He was rightly substituted in the second half and I'm sure he knew he had to go.

2. WAS THE BALL HOT?
Anthony 'Ikechukwu' Martial was a strong contender for flop of the match today with his poor performance. Each time he attempted a pass or dribble, he hit the ball so lightly like it was wrapped with hot leather.

He lost possession in the opponents half more than any other player. Like his fellow flop today, his best moment was also winning the second penalty.

3. JUST A PAIR OF LEGS
Jesse 'Awilo' Lingard was nothing short of a pair of legs today, running round the pitch, ensuring that we were 11 players on the pitch. Nothing more!!

His commitment and passion for United is obvious, but whenever he doesn't get on the score sheet, his 'average-ness' is visible to the blind.

4. WHY LUKAKU?
With United desperately needing a goal, how and why Romelu 'Timaya' Lukaku was substituted was really  confusing.

Between himself, Martial and Lingard, he was the only attacker on the pitch trying to create something. Rashford's coming on kept the attack bright and made his absence not felt.

5. DAVE SAVES AGAIN
The Spanish super-fly, David 'Osinachi' De-Gea, kept our top-four hopes alive today with his superb saves especially the one that denied Antonio.

Time and time again he proves that he is truly an 'Osinachi'(sent from/by God).

IN THE END, though West Ham were the unlucky team today, what matters most is that the three points are safe and secure in the bag.
So "top-four battle continua, victoria ascerta".

Kudos to Fred for another solid display. He is improving by the day.

For now, all roads lead to Camp Nou. Stay tuned to ManUtdNaijaFM.
