UNITED 2-0 BRIGHTON: 5 Things We Learnt As United Brightened The Mood.

With the gloom of the Sevilla loss hovering over Old Trafford, Manchester United hosted Brighton in another knock-out match; the FA cup quarter final.

A goal each from Romelu 'Timaya' Lukaku and Nemanja 'Agu' Matic was enough to send United through to the FA cup semi-final.

Here are five things Man United Naija FM learnt from the clash:

1. 25-GOAL LUKAKU

United's Striker-in-chief continued to shut his critics up with another goal against Brighton, to take his goal tally to 25 this season.

The big Belgian headed home a 'choco-milo' cross from Matic to score his 12th goal in 11 FA cup appearances. Lukaku clearly loves the FA cup and we hope he can win it for United this season.

2. EXCELLENT MATIC

The midfield general Nemanja 'Agu' Matic had an excellent game against Brighton. His injury time 'bulala'(whip) shot against Crystal Palace appears to have opened his goal scoring chapter for United.

It was a case of one "one good turn deserves another" as he was given exactly the same assist he gave Lukaku by Ashley Young for his goal. Man of the match performance.

3. SO, WHY FELLAINI?

Watching Scott McTom-Tom put on a fine display alongside Matic in the heart of midfield makes one ask the question: "Why was Fellaini picked to start against Sevilla"?.

The young lad was mobile and paired nicely like ' Akara and Bread' with Matic....their collabo has indeed been a hit. Despite some mistakes, his future is bright.

4. THE SEVILLA PAIN

The  pains of the humiliating exit from the champions league showed clearly at Old Trafford. For the 1st time in a really long time, Old Trafford was full of empty chairs.

Fans were still in the mourning mood. It will take some consistently good performances and the FA cup to probably bring joy back to Old Trafford.

5. BIG BOYS ON BENCH 'ISLAND'

After watching United's new number 7 Alexis 'Balogun' Sanchez underperform since arriving from Arsenal, the boss finally took a bold step to drop him.

Another 'big boy' notably on the bench was Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba whose care-free approach to games has come under scrutiny.

Maybe some holiday on 'Bench Island' will do the revival magic for our 'big boys'. No one is greater than the team.

IN THE END, despite a very boring second half, Manchester United scaled through to the semi-final of the FA cup.
Special Kudos to Sergio Romero for his  De Gea-like saves.
