Manchester United super trio, Paul 'Ikenna' Pogba, Nemanja 'Agu' Matic and Phil 'Osaze' Jones have been nominated for the club's August player of the month award.
NEMANJA 'AGU' MATIC
Our summer signing, Nemanja 'Agu' Matic, started off the season with a FANTA-stic performance against Real Madrid, pulling strings in the midfield, forcing the only goal of the match after his fierce shot was parried and fell to the feet of United's striker-in-chief, Romelu 'Timaya' Lukaku.
He then followed it up with three COCACOLA-stic performances in the EPL, playing every single minute of campaign so far, freeing up all United's attacking talents further up the pitch.
Matic has completed more tackles than any other United player this season(11).
PHIL 'OSAZE' JONES
Despite missing our UEFA super cup clash against Madrid, Phil 'Osaze' Jones came to United's aid in the league, starting all 3 games with menacing performances alongside Eric 'Olusegun' Bailly, keeping 3 clean sheets in each one.
A great season it has been indeed. Let us now pray his "village people" don't pay him an August visit and send forth another mysterious injury.
PAUL 'IKENNA' POGBA
Nemanja Matic's arrival has seen our star French man reborn, in a more confident and devastating attack-minded midfield force this season.
The giant midfielder has dished out menacing performances consistently, while also contributing directly to 3 out of United's 10 league goals this season, with 2goals and 1 assist.
His hair styles have been nice this season, but we need to pray he doesn't meet a barber that will shave his sense away.
'FUFU' FOR THOUGHT
(1) Our highest goal scorer of the season so far with 4goals in 4 appearances, Romelu 'Timaya' Lukaku wasn't nominated...
(2) Our new assist 'Igwe', Henrikh 'Nwokeoma' Mhkhitaryan also wasn't nominated despite assisting 5 of United's 10 league goals so far, equalling a 23-year old Premier League record in the process....
(3) United's standout performer and player of the season last year, Ander 'Akinbode' Herrera is yet to start a league game this season....
#ManUtdNaijaFM's verdict on these thoughts: The team has been beyond fantastic, playing so well that we can now confidently look beyond the official goal getters to nominate our standout players of the month.
